กลุ่ม TFO เกิดจากการรวมตัวกันของผู้จัดงานไทยเฟสซิวัล และผู้เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะด้านในการจัดงานในประเทศอังกฤษที่มีพื้นฐานและแนวความคิดเดียวกัน

จากจำนวนคนไทยที่เข้ามาอยู่ในประเทศอังกฤษจำนวนมาก และนับวันจะเพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ที่ผ่านมาก็มีปํญหามากมายสำหรับผู้คนที่มาอยู่ต่างถิ่นต่างแดน แต่การรวมตัวเพื่อช่วยกันบรรเทาปัญหาดูยังไม่เพียงพอ แม้จะมีหน่วยงานและองค์กรที่คนไทยได้จัดตั้งขึ้นมาเช่น Thai help line ซึ่งเริ่มจากแม่บ้านไทยจำนวนไม่มากนักได้เสียสละเวลาส่วนตัวคอยช่วยเหลือและหารือปัญหาต่างๆ ผ่านวัดไทยพุทธประทีป เป็นเวลานานนับ 20 ปี ได้ทำประโยชน์แก่ส่วนรวมอย่างน่ายกย่อง สมควรได้รับการเผยแพร่และยอมรับอย่างเป็นทางการ

กลุ่มเพื่อนหญิงไทยที่มีสมาชิกดำเนินชีวิตอยู่ในประเทศอังกฤษมานาน ได้มีความเข้าใจและประสบปัญหานานับประการมาก่อนเช่นเดียวกัน จึงเห็นความจำเป็นที่ต้องมีช่องทางใหม่อีกเพื่อให้ความช่วยเหลือเกื้อกูลระหว่างคนไทยด้วยกันให้มากยิ่งขึ้น โลกก้าวไกลเพียงใด ปัญหาต่างๆก็ยิ่งพัฒนาขึ้นเป็นทวีคูณ และยิ่งได้เห็นการรวมตัวของเครือข่ายกลุ่มสตรีไทยในแถบยุโรปอย่างพร้อมเพรียงและสามัคคีกันอย่างกันน่าชื่นชม ซึ่งได้มีการประชุมอย่างเป็นทางการที่ประเทศอิตาลีเมื่อเร็วนี้ ทำให้กลุ่มเพื่อนหญิงไทยในประเทศอังกฤษได้หารือและเห็นพ้องกันที่จะรวมพลังหญิงไทยให้ร่วมมือร่วมใจทำประโยชน์ต่อส่วนรวมให้กับคนไทยที่นี่ และสำคัญสุดคือการเสียสละเพื่อประเทศไทยของเราทุกคน

Since Samaggi Samagom’s establishment in 1901 by King Rama VI of Thailand, Samaggi Samagom has set out to unite and reinforce harmonious relationships amongst Thai people all around the U.K. by providing various events and activities. Samaggi Samagom has always had close working relationships with both The Royal Thai Embassy and The Thai Students’ Office of London. Our aim is to be able to offer and impart information, and to provide any possible assistance to all Thai people around the U.K. especially the Thai Students and their Societies. Not only that, Samaggi Samagom has also formed strong relationships with private organizations such as the Anglo Thai Society and the Young Buddhist Group.

The main and long running aim of Samaggi Samagom is still to provide a “get together” for all Thais, living, studying and working in the U.K., from organizing academic seminars and University Challenge to sporting competitions such as our annual Samaggi Games, as well as providing our members with entertainment gathering such as concerts. Samaggi Samagom believes that, like our name “Samaggi” is a quality worth strengthening. We believe in uniting good relationships between new friends and reinforcing those, of the existing ones.

The Thai Cultural Association, Wales promotes Thai culture, cooking and dancing to encourage both Thai people and the local community to enjoy the traditions and practices of this beautiful South East Asian country.
